Miss hanging with you!

Hi If you are looking for the cas-ual fridays post please go Here
Or read on for my newest post.

This is my entry for the weekly play date cafe colour challenge.
This is the colour combination that we are to draw inspiration from.
The colours remind me of youfullness's and playfulness.
So i decided that a card with young children playing, was the way to go!

This image- reminds me of one of my best friends. We have been friends since we looked just like the those two kids ..i think i will pop it in the post to her tomorrow let her know I'm thinking of her and miss her, I'm sure she will get a giggle out of it

Each of the pieces is hand cut and layered .They have a little dinesion to them from all the layers.
The Tree is covered in glossy accents making it stand out from the rest of the oatmeal and also giving it a lovely finish. I adjusted the sentiment by hand writing in the hanging with...a tad dodgy but it fits with the feel of the card.
Its not to late to play along with everyone at the playdate cafe, to see all the other wonder full and inspiring cards go here .

Splash of colour

I am so excited...toady's post has been on my bench for a couple of days and i keep looking at it and smiling, in this otherwise dull dreary weather a splash of colour makes me happy!

This is my entry in the cas-ualfridays challenge cfc#7 . This week the challenge is to use colour blocking.
I checked in with the who's who's over at the blog to see if i could do a scrapbook layout , I was ever so excited to find out i could.

Michele Gross's card inspired me, I love her work and I must say she leaves the nicest comments on peoples blogs, you can see her card here. I loved how she graduated the colours.

Here is my take on colour blocking. ......  or in my case colour shards.

This is a photo of my little girl when she was just 6 months old. The photo had so many colours in it, that it was hard to pick a colour to work in , so this worked great, i cut shards of cardstock in lots of colours trying to get them to blend to the colour next to it. Matted the photo in neutral colours and then punched out the butterfly's along the edge.

I had a restless night last night after posting the layout yesterday for the sassy lill sketches , things just didn't seem right' so first thing this morning i got up and changed a few things.....i am updating the post so i would love everyone to pop back and see what i did...let me know if you like the changes!

Silver Lining !

I have finally found the silver lining .....this last few weeks have been so cold and yuk, but today i have found the good in it, I have had my hubby home for a few days after a tiny operation he had, he is normally a very outdoors guy , if he is home he is normally  pottering around the garden or in one of the many sheds he has!
A combination of the slight discomfort he has, and the weather,  has moved him inside ...YEAH!
This has allowed me time to escape to my little workshop ( which has a lovely fire burning thanks to the afore mentioned hubby) and PLAY. I have had so much fun and have like 3 projects to post...but i wont overload u now u will need to keep a eye out over the next few days to see what has been keeping me busy.

News Flash * After posting this layout last night i decided that it wasnt quiet finished so i went back and tweeked it a little. There are some before and after photos at the end , let me know what u think!

Today's post is a project made from the sketch at sassy lil' sketches , for more information or to check out the sketch pop over here and read all about it.
I followed this sketch pretty closely to come up with this layout.

I had so much fun making these cherubs,
I stamped , cut , pasted and then covered in glossy accents ! Just love the effect.

The tags are done with shrinky dinks...if u haven't played with them, grab some and have a go.

The finished products ends up about  a third of the size and  quiet a lot thicker, it is hard and shiny.

If you are around my age  you will remember the  chip packets in the oven HEHEHE ...so much fun!
Well this is just as much fun and a good excuse to return to our childhood AGAIN.

There are so many details on the layout that just don't show real good in the photos , the bottom embossed section with the bling is just one.

Thats one Project down, please stop by tomorrow for my take on the Cas-ual friday Challenge!
Have a great day all
Nat

Playdate cafe challenge PDCC85

This weekend was a long weekend here in Australia, we celebrated the queens birthday. Cheers to the Queen ( and thanks for the extra day off )
I hope the long weekend gave some of you a chance to do some paper crafting.

I got a chance to do just a wee bit ...this is the second colour challenge card i completed on the weekend....its just taken a little while for me to get around to posting , but as they say better late than never.

This one is from the play date cafe and is challenge PDCC85. Pop over there and check out the wonderfulness that is going on , they have such a talented bunch of girls there, it will knock your socks off!

This is the colour challenge they have has us working on this week

The colours are just wonderful with so many possibilities.
This is what I cam up with.......

I put lots of work into making the background paper , I started with plain ivory cardstock , using distress ink and a blending tool i moved ink all over  a piece of plastic sheet, when i had it smooth i took the fleur stamp sprayed with mini mister and stamped onto plastic removing some of the ink in those areas. I then sprayed the whole plastic sheet and laid the cardstock in it. This gave it a really nice aged distressed look that i was chuffed with. ( round of applause for me :) I blended the edges with the blue and pink and repeatedly stamped the fleur image all over.
Stamped a journaling block with the lines masked and then the thinking of you in a combo of both the pink and blue. Embellish with ribbon and pearls and here is my take on this weeks challenge.
Hope you get a chance to play along there is still plenty of time

Tic tac toe....it feels like snow

Hi everyone
First a note explaining my long absence and lack of posts!  SICK SICK SICK...its been close to two weeks, and I'm still waiting to feel normal again!  On top of  that it has  been so cold....i mean ice cold...the kind that makes u shiver just looking out the window!
So i haven't ventured out to the workshop for ages!
What is a sick girl do to make it better .........CHALLENGES!

I love doing challenges as they inspire me to do things i normally wouldn't,and to get moving again, one of my favourite places is cas-ual fridays

Over at cas-ualfridays the are playing Tic Tac Toe and  what a fantastic game its turning out to be .

All you need to do is use three elements in a row or a diagonal from the picture opposite, keep it clean and simple and join the fun

I was inspired by the tic tac toe board and went to work on the emboss, punch and buttons

Below is my take on the challenge.

The Base of the card is 6 x 12 inch . The white card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 and is  a sheet of white bling so has a lovely shimmer to it.
I lightly inked around the edges of the cardstock and then started making the tic tac toe board.
I used strips of paper and ribbon layered for the board.
Embossed a heart image and punched it out using the matching Kaszazz heart punch then
layered it on some  more cardstock.
When I stamped the smile image I  used two different inks ,  starting with the lighter ink colour then dabbed the darker colour where i wanted it.
Added a few buttons and TA DA
Here is a couple of close ups.
I must say i love the bright colours they make me SMILE
Hope you have enjoyed Natalie
